American Society of Concrete Contractors first new owner of safety award

The Safety and Risk Management Council (SRMC) of the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), St. Louis, recently announced that Keith Wayne, president/CEO of Wayne Brothers, Inc., Davidson, NC, is the first recipient of a new safety award, the ASCC Member Owner Safety Award, presented September 15 at the association’s Annual Conference in Minneapolis. The purpose is to annually recognize one owner/executive of a contractor member company that displays a clear focus and passion for safety, and provides the leadership that creates a best-in-class safety culture.

Wayne Bros. works over 800,000 manhours annually. For the past three years they have had an RIR of 2.68 and an average EMR of 0.91. Since August 31, 2015 the company worked 600,610 hours and eight months without an accident. In nominating their boss, Wayne Bros.’ employees wrote, “Over the past nine years, Keith Wayne has worked to implement new safety initiatives, policies and procedures to ensure that safety is the #1 priority on all projects.”

Wayne Bros. also received an ASCC Fleet Safety Award the same evening, for driving 2,032,937 miles with zero accidents.

The new award is in keeping with Goal #1 of the ASCC Strategic Plan: Increase the Number of Contractor Member Owners Who Truly Demonstrate a Personal Commitment to Safety.
