Cement industry honors plant safety

The Portland Cement Association (PCA) announced the winners of the Chairman’s Safety Performance Awards, which recognize outstanding safety performance in the manufacturing of portland cement, the core ingredient used in all forms of concrete. Presented at the PCA Board Meeting and Fly-In event, the nine winners were selected from 100 cement facilities across the U.S. found to be the highest performers in safety.

The 2017 PCA Chairman’s Safety Performance Award winners are:

LafargeHolcim US – Morgan, Utah

Lehigh Hanson, Inc. – Tehachapi, Calif.

226,001-289,000 hours

Ash Grove Cement – Foreman, Ark.

GCC Permian – Odessa, Texas

Lehigh Hanson, Inc. – Leeds, Ala.

289,001-563,000 hours

CEMEX USA – Brooksville, Fla.

CEMEX USA – New Braunfels, Texas

Martin Marietta Materials – New Braunfels, Texas
