Laticrete, a leading manufacturer of globally proven construction solutions for the building industry, has launched Fracture Ban SC, a thin, load-bearing, self-curing liquid rubber polymer that can be easily applied in a single coat to form a flexible seamless anti-fracture membrane. Fracture Ban SC is rapid drying and cures between one and two hours. This increases productivity and reduces downtime for installers. As a single-component, single coat material, it also decreases strain on inventory as it requires less material to complete a project. When applying Fracture Ban SC directly to concrete, tile, brick, cement mortar and stone, there is no need for fabric. As a result, it provides anti-fracture protection of up to 1/8 inch (3 millimeters) over shrinkage and other non-structural cracks.

“The durability and ease of use that Fracture Ban SC provides makes it a valuable resource for contractors needing a quick anti-fracture solution without compromising quality. Because it possesses rapid-curing technology, and with the ability to apply in a single coat, this new anti-fracture membrane effectively shortens installation time. It also aids construction professionals working with tight schedules and controlled job site access in the midst of a pandemic,” said Dustin Prevete, Laticrete Senior Product Manager. “Fracture Ban SC is also equipped with Microban Antimicrobial Protection, fulfilling a growing demand in the construction industry for materials that inhibit the growth of microbes including bacteria, mold and mildew.”

Useful for a variety of horizontal substrates, both interior and exterior, Fracture Ban SC is good for a variety of residential and commercial applications. It is also useful for terraces and balconies overlooking unoccupied spaces.

Here is a list of all suitable substrates:
  • Cement Backer Board
  • Exterior Glue Plywood (Interior Only)
  • Cement Mortar
  • Cement Terrazzo
  • Concrete
  • Concrete and Brick Masonry
  • Ceramic Tile and Stone
  • Cement Plaster
  • Poured Gypsum Underlayment

The product enhances surface durability with “extra heavy” service rating per Tile Council of North America (TCNA) performance levels. Additionaly, it exceeds ANSI A118.12 standards. Requiring only a thin, single-coat application with a wet thickness of 30 to 44 mils (0.8 to 1.2 millimeters), the membrane cures at only 0.02 to 0.03 inches (0.5 to 0.8 millimeters) thick. As a design feature, Fracture Ban SC also changes in color from a light blue to darker blue when cured.
