New PPG white paper compares polysiloxane, traditional coatings

PPG Industries’ protective and marine coatings business has published a white paper comparing the performance of polysiloxane coatings to that of traditional epoxy/urethane and epoxy/silicone-alkyd coatings.

The four-page white paper summarizes polysiloxane coating chemistry and explains how it enables PPG products such as PSX 700 and PSX 700SG coatings to provide long-term color and gloss retention as well as chemical and corrosion resistance that outpace traditional epoxy-based coatings. The paper also explains that the molecular structure of polysiloxane coatings makes them safer for people and the environment because they emit low amounts of volatile organic compounds and are made without isocyanates, which are suspected carcinogens.
