On November 25, 2020, Poraver installs rotary kiln. The state-of-the-art rotary kiln arrived at the new Poraver production plant in Schlüsselfeld (Germany). It is the heart of the new production line and the foundation for further company growth. The plant will go into operation by mid 2021, after which new products will be manufactured there and distributed worldwide. With an area of 55,0000 m², the site in Schlüsselfeld offers space for a total of seven production lines. Once the first line in Schlüsselfeld is up and running, Dennert Poraver GmbH will have a total capacity of 360,000 m³ of expanded glass per year including the existing plants in Postbauer-Heng and Innisfil (Canada). This is equivalent to a total volume of over 6,000 fully loaded silo trucks.

A team of experts will install the indirectly heated rotary kiln. A heavy goods transport carried out the delivery. The special kiln, over 20 metres long and 5 metres high, was designed, planned and built to meet the special requirements and wishes of the company from Schlüsselfeld. The planning and construction period lasted a total of two years.

Dennert Poraver GmbH is global market leader

Dennert Poraver GmbH is the global market leader in the production and sale of expanded glass. Hans Veit Dennert, inventor and owner of Poraver, succeeded in 1983, after a long and intensive research phase, in creating a worldwide unique lightweight aggregate made of resource-saving recycled glass. Since then, it has been produced very successfully under the brand name Poraver. Two industrial sites in Europe and North America make this product. At the Postbauer-Heng production plant near Nuremberg (Germany) Dennert Poraver GmbH  manufacturers Poraver expanded glass for the European market since 1983. Another Poraver plant opened in 2007 in Innisfil (Canada) to supply the North American markets.

They built the plant in Schlüsselfeld due to the increasing demand and in order to produce the new developments from the in-house research and development department, the third production They commissioned the ultra-modern pilot plant as early as August 2020. They develop new and environmentally friendly products and production processes there.

Poraver conserves natural resources, natural areas and reduces environmental pollution

Compared to other products such as perlite, pumice, expanded clay, vermiculite, hollow and solid glass beads, for which natural resources have to be extracted, Poraver relies on recycled glass. It is recycled glass which the industry no longer economically recycles for new container glass and puts in a landfill. In a sophisticated production process, this recycled glass is refined into Poraver expanded glass.

An important part of the long-term corporate strategy has always been the responsible and socially acceptable use of resources. For this reason, the continuous optimization of production processes and the associated reduction of emissions play just as important a role as the sustainable use of the new factory premises beyond the pure production of Poraver expanded glass. They are planning to install a photovoltaic system on the factory premises in Schlüsselfeld, as will a separate beekeeping station. This completes the greenery designed to protect bees and insects.

About Poraver

Dennert Poraver GmbH is the global market leader in the manufacture and sales of expanded glass granules. The company is among the pioneers in the field of innovative lightweight filling materials. More than 30 years ago, in their own research, they developed a method for the industrial manufacture of expanded glass from recycled glass. This is a milestone in the company’s history.

Since then, the company has manufactured the lightweight aggregate Poraver expanded glass granules. It does this at its production sites in both Europe and North America for customers and distributors throughout the world.
