Self-consolidating concrete conference planned

The Center for Advanced Cement-Based Materials, a cement and concrete research center at Northwestern University, is organizing SCC 2008: The Third North American Conference on the Design and Use of Self- Consolidating Concrete. The conference will be held Nov. 10-12, 2008, in Chicago. Leaders in cement and concrete, representing industry, academic and government organizations, will give more than 150 presentations.

The meeting goals are to raise awareness of misconceptions about SCC, inform participants so that they can better overcome those barriers, and promote a greater interaction between North American researchers and international users of SCC. Some topics to be covered include: Mix Design, Formwork Pressure, Emerging Technologies, Sustainabililty and Green SCC, Mechanical Properties and Performance, Precast SCC, and Case Studies/Field Experiences.
