Seven new publications from ACI

The American Concrete Institute has released seven new publications.

305.1-06: Specifications for Hot Weather Concreting — This specification lays out hot-weather requirements for production preparation, delivery, placement, finishing, bleed-water evaporation, curing, and protection of concrete.

341.3R-07: Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit Techniques for Concrete Bridges — This document is intended to be useful to practicing engineers and academic researchers. Three primary phases of a retrofit program are described: seismic vulnerability evaluation, evaluation of the seismic demands and capacities, and selection and design of the retrofit measures. General descriptions of appropriate linear and nonlinear analysis methods to evaluate the seismic response of an existing bridge are provided.

42 1.2R-07: Seismic Design of Punching Shear Reinforcement in Flat Plates — This report gives recommendations for designing flat plate-column connections with sufficient ductility to go through lateral drift. During an earthquake, the unbalanced moments transferred at flat plate-column connections can produce significant shear stresses.

439.3R-07: Types of Mechanical Splices for Reinforcing Bars — This report provides engineers and contractors with updated information about bar-to-bar mechanical splices and the types of proprietary mechanical splices currently available.

2007 Manual of Concrete Practice — The Manual contains more than 180 of ACI’s committee standards and reports, including widely used concrete and masonry code requirements, specifications, guides and reports. It also includes information about code requirements, cracking, durability problems, temperature control, nondestructive testing, and hundreds of other topic areas.

ITG 4.1-07: Specification for High-Strength Concrete in Moderate to High Seismic Applications — This specification covers cast-in-place, normal-weight, high-strength concrete. More specifically, this specification applies to structures located in certain seismic zones or assigned to specific seismic performance or design categories.

SP244 CD: Thin-Fiber and Textile-Reinforced Cementitious Systems — This CD-ROM contains 10 papers that were presented at a technical session held in New York, N.Y., in fall 2005. The papers cover experimental and theoretical topics.
