Auctioning Concrete Furniture to Support Sick Children Through Art

Auctioning concrete furniture to support sick children through art

We wrote about the plans by Buddy Rhodes Concrete Products to support an organization called Arts for Life with an auction. The intent was to support an organization that provides an artistic, creative outlet to children and their families who are coping with life-threatening illnesses.

At this year’s EPIC, the annual BlueConcrete and Buddy Rhodes training event, Buddy Rhodes artisans created seating objects–benches, chairs, stools, loungers–made of concrete. The objects were symbolic of “the waiting place.” If you are sick yourself or close to someone who is, it’s the place where you can do nothing but sit and wait, for a diagnosis, for a cure, for something to change, for support, for courage.

By purchasing these objects you can sit in solidarity with these kids and their families. All of the revenue generated will benefit Arts for Life and the families that they support in four cities across North Carolina. These objects are designed and crafted by some of the brightest and most talented makers in the world of artisan concrete, says Jeremy French, artisan with Buddy Rhodes Concrete Products.

Here are a couple of pictures of the objects that you can bid on. For more info and to see the rest of the objects that are available, please visit the Buddy Rhodes Blog.
