Ohio Valley Concrete, led by industry-acclaimed expert Andy Bowman, recently announced a rebrand under the name Superflat Precision Concrete Solutions. Under the new brand, Superflat simultaneously launched a much-needed research and development division for the concrete industry.

The company will focus on ongoing R&D initiatives in addition to its current extensive service offerings. This includes everything from product development and launch to very narrow aisle research and modifications. Superflat will also concentrate on concrete texture advancement and testing, and automation requirements and improvements for floor flatness and levelness.

A main objective of the new R&D expansion will center on solutions for companies that want to repurpose large warehouse facilities. It will particularly focus on how to equip these warehouses with serviceable floors for ongoing robotics use.

Bowman, a concrete industry veteran of nearly 30 years, has an extensive background in concrete polishing, remediation and maintenance. Over the years, his real expertise evolved in superflat floors. Subsequently, he authored the first industry specification for floor texture with the launch of the ST115. Large companies that incorporate automation and robotics into their production and distribution warehouses have widely adopted this specification.

“We’re excited to finally get this expansion off the ground,” says Bowman. “It’s been a long time coming, and something the industry has desperately been needing.

“As the climate for artificial intelligence use evolves, distribution centers must also evolve to stay on top,” he says. Likewise, flooring needs continue to change. Consequently, Bowman and his team plan to continue expanding research and development of these needs. They’ll seek to solve important issues regarding new-build projects.

New product launch

The Superflat team will also focus on how to identify and convert existing spaces to meet proper floor texture requirements. As the technology evolves, the specification requirements will also evolve. Subsequently, Bowman plans to test new products and methods to accommodate such changes.

“We’re excited to launch our own chemical products into the market for the first time ever, making them available for other concrete companies and contractors to purchase in bulk. One of the main features of our product line is that our products are nonhazardous. This makes cleanup on the job easier and safer,” Bowman says.

The Superflat Concrete Polishing System products will be ready for distribution in California in the very near future. Currently, the company is finalizing details for the sale of the full product line to contractors nationwide.

Superflat specializes in paving the way for businesses, architects, engineers, general contractors, facilities managers, robotics suppliers and distribution centers. It has serviced more than 50 million square feet and offers a variety of services.

Services include design consulting, measurement, remediation, site assessment, validation, maintenance, laser milling, contractor training, and chemical evaluation and consulting. Bowman also speaks and writes for the industry in his spare time.
