The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) has released the newest version of the terrifically handy Rebar Reference mobile app. This app is designed as a quick reference resource, providing essential steel reinforced concrete data applicable for both field and shop use.
CRSI’s Rebar Reference serves as a comprehensive tool, offering detailed properties of ASTM standard reinforcing bars (rebar) and its application in reinforced concrete construction. Users can access standard rebar specifications, including sizes, diameters, areas, and weights. The app also incorporates minimum yield and minimum tensile requirements per ASTM and important field inspection information.
Key features designed to assist professionals include:
- Details on standard hook details, specifically 90, 135, and 180-degree hooks.
- Standard stirrup and tie hook details.
- Field inspection information and ASTM reinforcing bar marking requirements.\
- Illustrations of industry standard bar markings for inch-pound rebar across various grades, including 40, 50, 60, 75, 80, 100 (A615), 100 (A1035), and 120.
A key new feature is the Safety module, which is freely accessible and focuses on jobsite and shop safety measures. This module provides critical safety precautions, guidance, and reference materials aimed at reducing occupational injuries. Additionally, the application includes links to online resources and CRSI’s Rebar U continuing education portal.
Premium modules are available through an in-app purchase and include the Rebar Identifier and Development Lengths calculation modules in ACI or AASHTO code bodies. A significant benefit is users who purchase either of the Development Lengths premium modules are given access to a desktop version of both modules.
The Rebar Reference Mobile App is available for FREE download on Apple iPhone and Android Devices.
