GCC Announces Organizational Changes in US Division

GCC LogoGCC welcomes Bob Cartmel as vice president of U.S. ready mix and announces Doug Roark’s move to vice president of U.S. cement operations.

In Roark’s 14 years with GCC, he has served as vice president of ready mix and as vice president of energy & environmental. In his new role, Roark’s responsibilities include managing cement operations at GCC’s five U.S. cement plants. Doug’s experience in cement operations, environmental and ready mix bring great perspective to this position. Roark holds a chemical engineering degree from Oklahoma University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington.

“Both Doug’s experience and knowledge across the GCC business and operations will help us build an even stronger company focused on serving our customers and operating in a more sustainable manner,” said Ron Henley, president of the U.S. division.

Bob Cartmel joined GCC in November 2019 from his consulting business and after more than 25 years at LafargeHolcim. He served in various roles including president/CEO of Lafarge Canada, regional president of aggregate and concrete, and also as vice president of strategy and business development. Cartmel has a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and completed the international leadership program through INSEAD.

“Bob’s day-to-day operational knowledge is matched by his vision and passion to build stronger, more cost-effective companies,” said Henley.

Additionally, Verne Stuessy will assume the role of vice president of business improvement. There he will focus on the execution of various projects throughout operations. He will also focus on coordinating efforts with GCC’s Corporate Technical and Operations Office. Stuessy has degrees from The University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the University of St. Thomas.
