GCC Pueblo Plant Earns ENERGY STAR for Fifth Straight Year

GCC’s Pueblo Plant earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2022 ENERGY STAR® certification for superior energy efficiency.

GCC Pueblo Plant earns the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2022 ENERGY STAR® certification for superior energy efficiency. This is the fifth consecutive year the Pueblo Plant wins the prestigious certification. Also, GCC’s Pueblo Plant is the only cement plant in Colorado to qualify. An achievement, only 10 cement plants in the country to do so.

“GCC Pueblo Plant is proud to accept EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification in recognition of our energy efficiency efforts,” said Ron Henley, U.S. Division President. “We are committed to environmental stewardship while also lowering our costs through operational improvements in the efficient use of energy.”

Earning ENERGY STAR certification highlights GCC’s status within the top 25% of cement plants in the nation. GCC’s Pueblo Plant improved its energy performance by managing energy strategically across the entire organization. Also, by making cost-effective improvements to its plants. GCC’s Rapid City, South Dakota, plant also earned an ENERGY STAR for the third consecutive year and was the only cement plant in that state to receive the prestigious award.

“Improving the energy efficiency of our nation’s buildings is critical to protecting the environment,” said Cindy Jacobs, Chief of the ENERGY STAR Commercial and Industrial Branch. “From the boiler room to the board room, organizations are leading the way by making their operations more efficient and earning EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification.”

ENERGY STAR was introduced by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. To date, tens of thousands of buildings and plants across all fifty states have earned the ENERGY STAR.
