LafargeHolcim facilities recognized by the NSSGA as Environmental and Community Leaders.

The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) announced its 2020 award winners for excellence in community relations and environmental performance. Four LafargeHolcim facilities recognized in the US. Those receiving awards, include:

  • Freedom Sand and Gravel (NY): Gold award for environmental excellence.
  • Marblehead Quarry (OH): Gold award for environmental excellence and a bronze award for community relations excellence.
  • Elburn Sand and Gravel (IL): Silver award for environmental excellence.
  • King George Sand and Gravel (VA): Bronze award for environmental excellence.

“This recognition is about more than the awards,” said Jay Moreau, CEO, US Aggregates and Construction Materials at LafargeHolcim in the US. “This is confirmation of our employees’, managers’ and leadership team’s dedication to providing sustainable materials. Also being stewards of the environment and being a valued member of the communities in which we work.”

NSSGA began the two awards programs to recognize aggregate producers who help enhance the public perception of the industry and their individual operations by supporting local communities and exceeding technical, environmental and regulatory requirements.

We are proud of their contributions to represent the aggregates industry at the highest levels,” said NSSGA President & CEO Michael Johnson. “NSSGA’s Awards of Excellence showcase the superb efforts of our member companies as leaders in community involvement, environmental stewardship and workplace safety.”

The Environmental Excellence Awards program provides national recognition for NSSGA producer member operations. The NSSGA looks for members that actively contribute to environmental maintenance in their operations. This is done through a commitment to the exemplary use of environmental systems and controls.

The Community Relations Awards program highlights operations that have supported their communities through local events. Additionally, donations and volunteer services, local and state government involvement, media relations and educational opportunities play a factor.
