Makita Debuts Ten New Products and New Battery Technology at GIE 2021

New Battery Technology by MakitaMakita continues to extend battery-powered run-time and performance for mowing, trimming and clean-up applications, giving landscapers and tree care professionals more alternatives to gas engine equipment. Makita’s range of solutions are on full display in Louisville at the GIE+EXPO, the largest annual trade show for outdoor power equipment, lawn and garden equipment, and landscape. Makita continues to expand new battery technology options with three systems of professional power equipment:

  • LXT 18V | 36V: The world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V batteries (275+ Products, One System), with an expansive range of 18V and 36V mowers, trimmers, blowers, chain saws, and more.
  • XGT 40V max | 80V max: The handheld solution for pro landscapers, with cordless equipment and tools engineered for high-demand applications that traditionally use cords, gas or air (50+ products, one system).
  • ConnectX 36V | 40V max: A new run-time and power solution for professional landscapers seeking a gas replacement. ConnectX is compatible with ConnectX products, as well as 40V max XGT and 36V (18V X2) LXTproducts.

Ten New Products at GIE+EXPO

Makita will debut ten new products this week at GIE+EXPO. Makita is backing up its focus on battery-powered equipment with a commitment to cease production of gas engine equipment worldwide in March 2022.

This week we’re debuting ten new products including battery-powered equipment ideal for all-day work, and that’s exactly what a pro landscaper needs to make the transition away from gas.”

Makita invites GIE attendees to see and experience the full range of new and existing Makita outdoor power equipment (booth 11138). Here are new solutions making their debut today in Louisville:

ConnectX 36V | 40V max

ConnectX is a run-time and power solution for professional landscapers seeking a gas replacement. At GIE+EXPO Makita is debuting a new backpack power supply. It comes with its most powerful battery available ever offered, as well as a compatible 21” lawn mower. The message to “mow-and-blow” contractors is clear: Makita has the battery-powered performance and run-time to take your operation to battery-powered.

ConnectX 1,200Wh Backpack Power Supply (PDC1200A01)

Makita ConnectX is engineered to replace gas equipment, and the new PDC1200A01 is the heart of the ConnectX system. It packs the highest capacity battery ever offered by Makita (1,200Wh) for longer run time. It’s ideal for all-day work across when used with compatible mowers, trimmers, and blowers. It has easy compatibility with Makita ConnectX products. Additionally, it works with the Makita 40V max XGT and 36V (18V X2) LXT products when used with an adaptor. It also features IPX4 rated weather-resistant construction.

Available in Winter 2021.

36V ConnectX Brushless 21” Self-Propelled Commercial Lawn Mower (CML01)

Users in the ConnectX System can connect for up to 3 hours of continuous cutting with this new 21” mower and a fully-charged Power Supply (PDC1200A01). You can remove the Power Supply from the backpack and mount it directly onto the mower for instant power. This means there are no pull starts and none of the noise and emissions associated with gas equipment. The CML01 is self-propelled with rear-wheel drive for improved traction on inclines and uneven terrain and features a commercial-grade steel deck for added durability.

Available in November 2021.

XGT 40V max | 80V max

XGT is the handheld solution for pro landscapers, with cordless equipment and tools engineered for high-demand applications that traditionally require products powered by cords, gas or air. The expanding XGT System offers 50+ equipment and tools powered by 40V max batteries, and select 80V products are powered by two 40V max batteries for cordless performance that is beyond limits. This week at GIE+EXPO Makita is debuting FIVE new additions to the XGT System, including the first 80V max solution in the XGT cutting and trimming category.

40V max XGT Brushless Earth Auger (GGD01)

The 40V max XGT Earth Auger is powered by an efficient brushless motor for performance equivalent to a 30cc gas-powered earth auger – but without pull starts and none of the noise and emissions associated with gas equipment. The auger will drill holes up to 8” wide and 41” deep.

40V max XGT Brushless 16” Top Handle Chain Saw (GCU03)

Makita has a deep range of battery-powered chain saws, and they’re backed up by 90+ years in gas engine products and 40+ years of cordless innovation. This is an engineering legacy that is unmatched in the industry. At GIE Makita is debuting the first chain saw in the expanding XGT System, model GCU03, with a top-handleconfiguration that’s ideal for tree care professionals. At GIE this powerful saw will be cutting 8” diameter stock in a side-by-side demonstration against a top competitor in the battery-powered category.

Makita is announcing both new battery-powered string trimmers and brush cutters. Each delivers commercial-duty performance without the noise, emissions and maintenance of gas equipment.

  • 40V max XGT Brushless 17” String Trimmer (GRU03/GRU04)

LXT 18V | 36V

Makita LXT is the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries – and the system includes a growing range of 36V LXT tools and power equipment powered by TWO 18V lithium-ion batteries. Within the LXT System is a range of battery-powered equipment that is finding users among pro landscapers and property-owners alike. In fact, it’s the world’s largest professional cordless outdoor power equipment system, powered by 18V lithium-ion batteries.

This week at GIE+EXPO Makita is also debuting three new additions to the LXT System.

Cordless Lawn Mower: 36V (18V X2) LXT 21” Self-Propelled Lawn Mower (XML11)

Makita battery-powered lawn mowers combine performance and run-time with more features and options so users can get the right solution. Similar to other mowers in the system, the new XML11 features a 36V brushless motor powered by two 18V batteries. However, it will carry four batteries on-board, so users can easily extend the run time (the XML11 will run up to 40 minutes with four 18V 5.0Ah batteries). It is self-propelled with rear-wheel drive traction for both inclines and uneven terrain.

Available in Spring 2022.

NEW Cordless Sprayer: 18V LXT 1.3 Gallon Garden Sprayer (XSU03)

The new XSU03 is both a cordless and compact solution for applying fertilizer and more. It sprays up to 77 gallons on a single charge of an 18V LXT battery. The variable mist or jet nozzles adjust pressure between 19 and 38 PSI.

Available in Spring 2022.

Cordless Convenience: 18V LXT Cooler/Warmer Box (DCW180Z)

What can your battery do for you? Can it keep a twelve-pack cold? If it’s an LXT battery it can, when loaded onto the new 18V LXT Cooler/Warmer Box. The DCW180Z has a 20 liter capacity with five cooling modes ranging between -0.4°F to 50°F. It also has a warmer mode to keep contents warm up to 131°F. It’s ideal for mow-and-blow contractors on the road or outdoor enthusiasts. It is also great for anyone taking cold or warm contents away from a power source.
