New RCA-C Rigid Connector Angle from Simpson Strong-Tie

RCA-C Rigid Connector AngleSimpson Strong-Tie is the leader in engineered structural connectors and building solutions. Recently, the company has expanded its lineup of rigid connector angles with the addition of the RCA-C Rigid Connector Angle. This is an ideal solution for attaching cold-formed steel (CFS) stud framing to concrete supports.

Designed to save installers time and reduce the cost of drilling connector holes at the jobsite, the RCA-C provides the most anchor options available, including holes for a 1/2″-diameter anchor screw or bolt, or for two 1/4″-diameter concrete screws positioned to allow a variety of fastening options.

The Simpson Strong-Tie family of rigid connector angles include general-purpose clip angles. The company  designed these for a wide range of cold-formed steel construction applications. With prepunched holes for fastener attachment, these L-shaped clips save time and labor on the job. You can also use them for miscellaneous header/sill connections to jamb studs. Additionally, they are great for jamb stud reinforcement at track, u-channel bridging and stud blocking. They are also good for bypass curtain-wall framing, joist connections and other applications.

“The RCA-C rigid connector angle for concrete is the most versatile angle for attachment to concrete in the market,” says Simpson Strong-Tie product manager Clif Melcher. “Plus, all RCA connectors have been rigorously tested and load rated. This provides contractors with confidence in quality and performance for virtually any job.”

They fabricated these RCA-C Rigid Connector Angle from G90 galvanized steel for enhanced resistance to corrosion. The RCA-C is also ideal for fastening stud framing to concrete supports where versatility and productivity are required on the jobsite.

Additional features of the RCA-C include:
  • 2″ x 2″ legs for plenty of room to make attachments to structure and stud framing
  • Multiple screw pattern options for different load rating options on stud framing
  • Prepunched holes for attachment of screws to stud framing and concrete
  • A range of load applications— you can use the connector either to form a heavy-duty shear and tension connector or to form a light-duty moment connection

Prepunched holes on the RCA-C anchor leg provide options for attachment to concrete or masonry. You achieve this with either 1/2″ Titen HD or Strong-Bolt anchors or 1/4″ Titen HD or Titen Turbo anchors.
