Sika Acquires Butterfield Color In The US, Further Strengthening Its Portfolio For Concrete Contractors

Sika has acquired Butterfield Color, Inc. a US-based market leader in the production of decorative concrete floor products and systems. The acquisition will accelerate Sika’s growth by bringing the most comprehensive range of solutions for concrete contractors in the North American construction market. Butterfield generated sales of CHF 20 million in 2016.

Laser Scanning Workshop on Tolerances

The American Society of Concrete Contractors, (ASCC), St. Louis, MO., will hold a Laser Scanning Workshop on Tolerances, Monday, January 22, from 8a.m. – 5p.m. in Las, Vegas, NV, in conjunction with the World of Concrete. Dr. Bruce Suprenant, PhD, PE, FACI, CSI: CSSA, CCS, technical director of the ASCC, is the workshop coordinator.

ICRI to Host Fall Convention

The International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), the only association in the concrete industry devoted solely to repairs, restorations, and protection, will host their annual fall convention at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans. The meetings will run from Wednesday, November 15 through Friday, November 17. “Docks, Locks and Canals” is the theme of the convention, as concrete repair specialists and contractors will learn about best practices for repairing structures in the harshest of settings for concrete, near corrosive elements.

The Concrete Polishing Council (CPC), and the Safety & Risk Management Council (SRMC), specialty councils of the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), St. Louis, MO, have published four Job Hazard Analysis Forms (JHAs) for polished concrete projects. They are Layout Power Cords, Changing Polishing Pucks, Equipment to Polish Concrete Floor, and Fueling & Grounding of Generator.

Briggs & Stratton To Move Production From Japan To Its Plants In Statesboro, Georgia And Auburn, Alabama

Briggs & Stratton Corporation announced today that it will move production of its V-Twin Vanguard engines from a joint venture partnership in Japan to its existing manufacturing facilities in Statesboro, Georgia and Auburn, Alabama. The increased production in North America will create approximately 50 new jobs at each of the facilities.
