Penetrating Sealers vs Surface Sealers

Penetrating sealers have smaller molecules that allow them to penetrate into the concrete microstructure and become an integral part of concrete, typically silane, siloxane, silicate, sconate base. Surface sealers on the other hand have larger molecules so they stay on the concrete surface and may wear off over time, hence need for reapplication, typically acrylic and silicone base.

What is a densifier (hardener)?

Penetrating sealers with “silicate” base can react with the unhydrated calcium in concrete to create more CSH (calcium silicate hydrate) which is the main ingredient in concrete responsible for strength and density. Therefore, these types of products make the concrete surface more dense (more hard), hence the name densifier (hardener).

Benefits for concrete:

Significant improvement in: durability, water-repellency, stain-resistance, chemical-resistance, wear and impact resistance, skid-resistance, and easier cleaning.

So, why Euco Diamond Hard?

Euco Diamond Hard is a unique blend of silicate and siliconate polymers that penetrate concrete surfaces. It also chemically reacts to provide an increase in surface density, durability, and abrasion resistance. Concrete treated with Euco Diamond Hard is dust-proofed, resists tire marks, and is easier to maintain. Over time, Euco Diamond Hard provides an attractive, slip resistant sheen to concrete that never peels, fades, or wears away.

Features & Benefits
  • Reduces porosity and also increases durability of the concrete surface
  • Complies with VOC regulations across North America
  • Treated surfaces have increased liquid repellency
  • Equipment can be cleaned with water
  • Minimizes tire marks and enables them to be more easily removed
  • Can apply it to new or existing concrete
Primary Applications
  • Interior or exterior
  • Warehouse floors
  • Commercial and retail floors
  • Manufacturing plants
  • Distribution centers
  • Diamond polishing concrete
Appearance

Euco Diamond Hard is a clear, water-based liquid that cures without a significant change in concrete appearance. During placement, the color of the concrete may initially appear darker but will lighten upon
drying. Tightly troweled concrete surfaces treated with Euco Diamond Hard will achieve a glossy sheen over time with traffic and regular cleaning or buffing. If the desire is immediate gloss, dry buff the floor with a lambswool buffing pad after the sealer has cured for a minimum of 24 hours.
