2020 Women in Construction Week Highlights Expanding Opportunities

2020 Women in Construction WeekThe OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is the only OSHA authorized OTI Education Center headquartered in Northern California. The institute is commemorating 2020 Women in Construction Week (WIC) on March 1-7, 2020. They are doing this to help raise awareness of both the growing role and expanding opportunities for women in the construction industry. The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is sponsoring WIC Week. They are doing this to advance its mission to both strengthen and amplify the success of women in construction.

“Women in Construction Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge the women who make a significant contribution to the growth and success of the construction industry,” says Cari Elofson-Callahan. Elofson-Callahan is the Assistant Director of the OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District. “This annual event also offers a forum to encourage more girls and women to consider a career in construction.”

Thousands of NAWIC members across the US will engage in a variety of community outreach activities. These activities provide information and resources highlighting the opportunities for women in the field of construction. This includes job site tours, membership drives, community service projects and children’s activities. It also includes hands-on workshops, fundraisers, school programs and career days.
