Don Gordon inducted into NCMA’s Hall of Fame

Don Gordon, retired vice president of sales of CarbonCure Technologies, Inc., Dartmouth, NS, Canada, and previous owner and president of Atlas Block Company out of Midland, Ontario in Canada, was presented with NCMA’s Hall of Fame award February 14, 2019 at association’s Annual Convention held at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Disney Springs Area hotel.

NCMA’s Hall of Fame award is presented to the industry’s most valued participants whose careers are highlighted by continual accomplishments on the industry’s behalf, and who have demonstrated unquestioned dedication to NCMA’s highest values.

Gordon joined Atlas Block Co in 1978 as a sales person and eventually became owner and president. Under his direction, Atlas Block Company was issued the first environmental product declaration (EPD) to a concrete block plant in North America. He was an advocate for research and development on use of recycled glass and other materials in manufacturing concrete products. In later years, he worked as vice president of sales of CarbonCure and promoted the use of concrete block and ready-mix concrete production.

“Don was a constant advocate for research and development on use of recycled glass and other materials in manufacturing concrete products," said Dave Carter, Brampton Brick Limited, who presented Gordon with the esteemed distinction. "He was determined to make our products greener and was the recipient of Canada’s Clean50 Award as Outstanding Contributor to Clean Capitalism in 2014.”

Gordon was also the recipient of the Elizabethtown-Kitley’s Business of the Year Award for Atlas Block Company on numerous occasions.

Between 2005 and 2016, he chaired and served on numerous NCMA and Foundation committees. Gordon was the first Chairman of the Board from Canada & Region VI.

"Induction into NCMA’s Hall of Fame represents a lifetime of achievement and excellence in the industry," said Robert Thomas, NCMA president. "Don has a long history with the association, having served in a variety of capacities. We could not be more proud to recognize his outstanding contributions."

Gordon has been supported through his career by his wife, Joan
