Ahoy, concrete mateys! Come aboard and help the third annual Mendo Mini Campout and Boat Build float into the annals of concrete boat history.

To be held Sept. 27-30, 2018, in Manchester, California, a town about three hours north of San Francisco, the Mendo Mini involves designing two concrete boats through a process that encompasses the spirit of collective creativity.

Attendees will come up with a mix design, process and style for a new experimental design, as well as build a replica of the first boat launched two years ago. “There’s always the potential that the creations will end up at the bottom of the Pacific,” says event organizer and host, Nathan Hake of Cranium Construction.

Cost for new attendees is $1,200 and $850 for returning participants. The fee includes all food, drinks and materials (not personal protective gear), as well as a spot to camp on the grounds where the event is held. The wood oven and kegs will be in full effect for the entire workshop.

There are other lodging options in Gualala, about a half hour south of Manchester.
