Mapei introduces three new products

Mapei recently introduced three new products. Planitop 11 and Planitop 18 ES repair mortars and the Mapeshield I galvanic anode answer the needs of contractors dealing with corrosion prevention and concrete repairs.

Planitop 11 is a one-component, pre-extended, cementitious, flowable mortar for full-depth structural concrete repairs in above-, below- and on-grade applications. Planitop 11 is designed for large-volume structural repairs ranging from 1-inch to 8-inche application thicknesses and is suitable for form-and-pour and form-and-pump applications. Planitop 11 is ideal for structural repairs on horizontal, vertical and overhead surfaces in applications such as tunnels, bridges, dams, parking garages, balcony edges and columns.

Planitop 18 ES is a one-component, high-early-strength, cementitious repair mortar, with a corrosion inhibitor, that has the rapid-setting characteristics of Planitop 18 but with an extended set and working time. It is suited for all interior/exterior horizontal concrete repairs both below- and above-grade, including bridge-deck repairs, parking-garage floor repairs and ramps. Planitop 18 ES contains silica fume to provide a dense, impermeable pore structure and a high-strength, durable repair mortar.

Mapeshield I is a pure zinc anode developed for cathodic protection of reinforcing steel against corrosion in new, reinforced structures as well as structures requiring repair. Composed with a zinc core, Mapeshield I has its surface area covered with a special conductive paste; once connected to steel reinforcement rods, the anode protects the metal and prevents corrosion, impeding its formation and keeping the system active for 10 to 20 years. Mapeshield I is extremely effective in aggressive environments, such as chloride-contaminated and carbonated concrete.
