Kryton International Inc., a company known for bringing both innovative and valuable concrete technologies to the world. The company chose World of Concrete 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada, to launch their latest product, Maturix Smart Concrete Sensors.
Real-time monitoring of structures is an emerging field in the construction industry made possible through the rapidly expanding Internet of Things (IoT) — the interconnected digital network — allowing people to embed everyday objects with electronics collecting and sharing data. Maturix Smart Concrete technology runs on the Sigfox 0G network. This is the world’s largest IoT network covering over 1 billion people in more than 65 countries. Sigfox’s long-range and low-power-demand network allows Maturix Sensor batteries to last for years. This is a vast improvement over current sensor products that last for just a few weeks. No other concrete sensor can claim such a long life and also be completely wireless.
The Sigfox network also means that it is not a requirement that Maturix users physically visit the worksite to take data readings. Fully wireless, Maturix Sensors transmit data to a user’s Internet-connected device anywhere in the world. The sensor displays concrete temperatures, at chosen depths, to the user in real time. Additionally, by using Maturix’s patented process, it converts this data to actual in-place concrete strength. Temperature and strength readings are recorded and reported as required by the user. The ability to monitor concrete strength and temperature in real time from remote locations helps expedite faster construction schedules, optimize efficiencies, reduce costs, and improve safety.
“What is really exciting about this technology is that the sensors are reusable,” says Kevin Yuers, VP of Product Development. “Unlike single-use sensors that are cast into concrete, Maturix Smart Concrete Sensors can be used over and over for multiple castings and projects. Not only does this significantly reduce cost, but it’s also a much greener and more sustainable use of materials.”
New to North America
Developed by Sensohive Technologies ApS in Denmark, the Maturix devices and software platform have proven themselves on countless projects for such companies as PASCHAL-Werk G. Maier GmbH, VolkerWessels, HeidelbergCement, NCC, Skanska, Kruse Smith, and also many others. Bringing this industry-proven technology to North America felt like a natural fit for Kryton, whose main mission has been to provide contractors with reliable, advanced technologies so that they can build faster, achieve better performance, and save money at the same time.
“We are super excited to bring Maturix to North America,” proudly announces the sensors’ co-inventor Tobias Ejersbo. “We believe this solution is perfect for the market here. The combination of cloud computing and rugged sensor technology provides a reliable and easy, yet powerful tool for today’s contractor.”
About Kryton International Inc.
Kryton International Inc. is a global manufacturer of Smart Concrete technologies that are designed to reduce risk and improve the performance of concrete. In the 1970s, Kryton pioneered crystalline waterproofing solutions with their Krystol technology. This proven technology has the ability to self-seal micro cracks and ensure waterproofing for the life of the structure. In 2017, Kryton introduced Hard-Cem, an integral concrete hardener that substantially increases abrasion and erosion resistance. In 2019, Kryton added Maturix wireless sensors to their Smart Concrete product line, allowing contractors to access concrete temperature and strength development in real time.
