OMNOVA to launch several paint and floor coatings innovations at ACS

OMNOVA Solutions (NYSE: OMN) will introduce four new coatings products at the American Coatings Show, April 12, 2016 in Indianapolis, significantly expanding the company’s presence and portfolio for the specialty coatings market in North America.

“OMNOVA’s continued growth in coatings is supported by a strong strategic focus on specialty applications and increased manufacturing capacity to serve our customers,” said Tom Hartle, General Manager, Specialty Coatings & Ingredients at OMNOVA. “The launch of these four new products demonstrates OMNOVA’s commitment to innovation and meeting the market’s need for solutions to challenging applications in paint and floor care.”

OMNOVA’s launches at ACS (Booth #1555) will include:

  • PLIOTEC SC140, a styrene-acrylic latex designed for high-performance zero-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Direct-to-Metal (DTM) coatings,
  • PLIOTEC EL135, an acrylic elastomeric latex for roof and exterior masonry coatings,
  • PLIOTEC WPM120, a waterproofing membrane product that provides superior water resistance, and
  • MOR-SHINE CSG finish, an advanced surface guard product that provides new levels of durability and beauty to polished concrete floors

“PLIOTEC SC140 resin enables the development of coatings for light industrial applications that meet or surpass DTM performance expectations while filling an important need for formulated paints that have no, or very low levels of, VOC,” said Rich Stewart, Americas Marketing Manager for Coating Specialties at OMNOVA Solutions.

“Until now, it has been difficult to drive true DTM performance in a no-VOC product, but PLIOTEC SC140 changes the game. It is designed as a self-cross-linking hydrophobic latex that enables the development of a highly durable, protective, and attractive coating with best-in-class corrosion resistance.”

PLIOTEC EL135 offers excellent adhesion to polyurethane foam, as well as superior tensile elongation, dirt pick-up resistance and water resistance. “This new resin is an ideal candidate for commercial roof coating applications, and its use in a formulated coating can support efforts to obtain an energy certification for a building, such as Energy Star,” said Stewart. “PLIOTEC EL135 also functions well in coatings for vertical exterior masonry, flashing compounds and sealants.”

PLIOTEC WPM120 offers best-in-class water resistance and a balance of excellent tensile strength and elongation properties, making it ideal for use in waterproofing membrane or damp-proofing membrane coatings. “PLIOTEC WPM120 meets an important need as growth continues in North American construction,” said Stewart. “We are confident that the performance advantages of this resin will support our customers as they pursue opportunities in both residential and commercial construction.”

MOR-SHINE CSG surface guard for polished concrete flooring is specially synthesized using custom polymers, hybridized silicates, and organically-reacted colloidal silica, which work in concert to enhance and protect. “MOR-SHINE CSG is a truly innovative product that raises the bar in shine, stain resistance, durability, and reparability,” said Stewart. “This new product will improve the appearance of polished concrete floors while significantly reducing maintenance costs.”

OMNOVA Solutions representatives will be available to discuss OMNOVA’s newest products and other new coatings solutions, including resins for garage floor and concrete coatings, commercial roof coatings, waterproofing and more at ACS booth #1555. The new products launching at ACS are currently only available to customers in the Americas.
