Plywood Surface Patterns and Textures Yield Variety of Concrete Finishes

Concrete finishes are typically intended to be smooth — polished even. There are polishing machines and sealants aplenty to achieve that flawless look. Careful selection and use of plywood concrete forms can also influence the finished appearance and texture. Various specialty and textured panels are available.

Four Chosen for Decorative Concrete Hall of Fame Honor

The Decorative Concrete Hall of Fame added four more names to its roster when it welcomed its newest members during a ceremony and dinner held Monday, Nov. 6, at the 2017 Concrete Decor Show in Palm Harbor, Florida. Ben Ashby, David De Angelis and Glen Roman received plaques during the gala, while Francis “Sully” Sullivan was inducted posthumously.

Fire Pit Plans and Materials from CCI

The Concrete Countertop Institute is offering fire pit designs in Crater and Ridge models. The plans for each design include detailed cut sheets and assembly instructions at a level of detail that stretches to 30 pages. The plans are meant to be used with glass-fiber reinforced concrete, but they could be adapted for other casting techniques.
