Thai Summit America Corp. is a multinational corporation with facilities in Asia and North America. The company has been a leader in the sheet metal stamping industry for the last 20 years. The company recently polished more than 1,000,000 square feet (yes, that’s more than 1 million square feet) in their Howell, Michigan, production plant.
D&B Industrial Floor Coatings Inc. is a company that knows a thing or two about retail and commercial floor systems, having polished and sealed floors for some of the largest retail companies in the United States. Three- or four-man crews have the process down almost to a science, capable of delivering projects in a four- to five-week time frame that exceed 500,000 square feet.
To accommodate the manufacturing robots that do the bulk of the work, the floors of Solyndra’s two plants must be very flat, level and durable, says Jonathan Williams, president of Diacon Inc., in Manteca, Calif. “We couldn’t have any ridges or valleys that would cause them to offshoot.” The task at hand was to produce functional factory floors that were also pleasing to the human eye.
