If you’re looking to outfit your house from top to bottom in concrete — floors, walls, kitchen and/or furniture — what better way to top it off than with a concrete clock?
Arizona-based artist Christine Cassano, who is known for work in concrete and other environmentally responsible materials, has crafted a series of concrete clocks that she sells for between $100 and $500.
According to Cassano’s press materials, the clocks are cast in a unique fashion, resulting in one-of-a-kind creations. She embeds salvaged and found materials, such as old metal automotive gears, post-consumer glass, spent bullets, and native dried plants, rocks and stones, into the surface of glass-fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC). The surfaces of the clocks are wet-polished to a satin-smooth finish and are then stained with soy- or water-based concrete color and sealers.
