The No. 625 Calcium Chloride Moisture and Alkali Test Kit from Taylor Tools is a reliable method to measure the volume of water vapor emitted from a concrete slab surface over a period of time.

The test consists of a small container containing anhydrous calcium chloride, which is weighed before and after exposure to the concrete slab. The difference in weight is then used to calculate the amount of moisture, in pounds, emitted over 1,000 square feet in a 24-hour period. When conducted properly, the CaCl test is a sensitive and accurate means for preventing floor covering failures due to moisture vapor emission.

The American Society of Testing Materials has established a test protocol (ASTM-F1869-04) for proper administration of the test.
